Translation Service

Afghan Translation Service specializes in translating material from and into any all supported languages. Dari, Pashtu, Urdu, Punjabi, Hindi to English, French and Spanish are languages that we support for in-house translation.

The Translation Process

Translation projects are implemented based on industry proven processes that involve professional project management. We follow the following process flow for every translation project:

Initiation

This is the phase where the client approaches Afghan Translation Service. Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) and other confidentiality related terms are exchanged between the client and Afghan Translation Service legal groups.

Concept

Upon completion of the initial phase, when confidentiality terms have been outlined, the concept of the project is studied. We discuss the client requirements in a face to face meeting with one of our project managers and the client.

Proposal

Once client requirement have been identified, we discuss these requirements internally and estimate costs and consequently draft and present our proposal for implementing the project. This phase normally may require multiple discussions to adjust our pricing and effort estimation based on client comments.

Scoping

Once the client has approved our proposal, we prepare a scope document, which is sent to the client for approval. This document outlines the areas of work that will be performed by Afghan Translation Service, highlights any assumptions made for implementation and excludes anything that is not required by the client.

Planning and Resource Selection

The planning and resource selection phase is an important one, as the scope document is used to build a work schedule, identify the right resources based on their experience, specialization, availability and their working relevance to the project. A budget is outlined based on the proposed budget that is approved by the client. The milestones pertaining to the project and the deliverable are all clearly defined in the planning document and shared with all important stakeholders. Afghan Translation Service uses an online project management service where stakeholders can keep track of the project progress and follow the plan from anywhere.

Kick-Off

When all the parties have signed-off the planning document, the project is officially kicked off in a meeting between all the stakeholders. This is the stage where everyone is given the green-light to start the work based on the project plan.

Implementation

This is the phase where the actual work is conducted. The client is constantly kept in the loop and based on the agreed scope of work and the project plan, reports are prepared and sent to the client on a regular basis. In majority of the cases, the projects demand that partial work completion should be submitted to client. This is normally done by making the completed milestones (or parts of the project deliverable) sent to the client either by email, FTP or physical media (CD, Floppy etc.) The client may have comments and may request change in all or part of the project, which will be addressed during this phase, however, should this change result in any delays in the schedule the client will be notified and a new schedule is created.

Quality Assurance

This phase is very closely tied to the implementation phase. Normally our QA team is very closely engaged with the frontline translators. Any areas of discrepancy are immediately addressed and fixed.

Handover

Once the project work has been completed in accordance with the scope document and the plan outlined during the planning phase, it is either submitted to client in bulk volume or the final piece is sent, if partial areas of the deliverable were submitted during the implementation phase.

Upon client's approval of the final product, an invoice is sent to the client for the work performed.

Review

Upon completion and handover of the project deliverable, a very thorough study is performed our project and process management team. This is very important for us to identify areas of opportunity that can be improved for subsequent projects.
